Miss Gwenyth Gwenlan

Community Governor

I have been a governor of Estcots Primary School for eight years. I taught there for many years and was responsible for Special Educational Needs and music for the greater part of that time.

My previous teaching experience took place in Oxfordshire, Ghana (West Africa), Scotland and Billingshurst, West Sussex. Having retired, I maintained my interest in teaching by going into the school to help with reading and taking small groups. I was also employed as a supply teacher.

A Few Things About Me

Having had experience with Special Educational Needs issues, I was asked to take on this role within the governing body and find it rewarding. I have the opportunity to visit classes and talk to staff about the challenges and demands they have to meet in the current climate of change in education to day. My teaching background enables me to have an understanding of many of the situations schools are facing today and as a governor I am able to make use of it.

I am a member of Jubilee Community Church in East Grinstead. I also sing with East Grinstead Choral Society. As a member of U3A I sing in that choir and belong to the Cross-Stitch group.
